The Story
A Grid, Hand-Wrapped
Pasa is built the way sumak rugs have always been built: a flat weft wrapped by hand around the warp, row by row, until the surface reads as one continuous braid. No pile, no knots. Just tension and repetition, drawn into a grid that catches light differently from every angle.
The jute is left undyed, its natural gold set against threads bleached to a soft white. At the Jaipur atelier, that contrast is drawn freehand across the loom. No two runs of Pasa are exactly identical, and that variance is kept, not corrected.

Made to soften, deepen, and stay.
Jute, woven over 3 to 4 weeks at our Jaipur atelier. Tones may drift subtly across a piece. That drift is the maker's handwriting, and it deepens beautifully with years of light.
- Do not brush or scrub the rug.
- Only vacuum clean it periodically. Avoid using the vacuum's beater brush mode.
- If spills occur, blot immediately. Do not rub the stain.
- Rotate occasionally to equalize wear.
- Use protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening and piling.
- If a thread comes loose, do not pull the yarn. Trim it with scissors instead.
- Periodic professional cleaning is recommended.
