The Story
Where the Colour Turns
Aangan takes its name from the courtyard, the in-between space of a home, neither fully inside nor out. The rug is built the same way: a diagonal seam splits the field, natural jute meeting a terracotta dyed in small batches to keep the tone slightly uneven.
That unevenness is intentional. Each hank of yarn is dyed separately, so the terracotta shifts a shade lighter or darker across the width of the rug, the kind of variation a printed pattern could never hold.

Made to soften, deepen, and stay.
Jute, woven over 3 to 4 weeks at our Jaipur atelier. Tones may drift subtly across a piece. That drift is the maker's handwriting, and it deepens beautifully with years of light.
- Do not brush or scrub the rug.
- Only vacuum clean it periodically. Avoid using the vacuum's beater brush mode.
- If spills occur, blot immediately. Do not rub the stain.
- Rotate occasionally to equalize wear.
- Use protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening and piling.
- If a thread comes loose, do not pull the yarn. Trim it with scissors instead.
- Periodic professional cleaning is recommended.
